I am a person who had to endure eighteen years of living with a stutter - and what a tough eighteen years it was. I was determined to not let this form of speech impediment get the better of me and I always kept a belief that one day I would be able to eradicate the stutter from my speech and to achieve total fluency - this day was to arrive when I was at the age of twenty-two.

What an immense feeling, the feeling of being able to speak free from that powerful fear of stuttering. It was like a new found freedom, like a massive weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

So how did I manage to overcome the stutter? Was it by luck? Boy no! I basically worked very hard at the practice side of things after managing to formulate my own techniques to overcome the stutter. I had become very disillusioned with the lack of available worthwhile stuttering therapy and therefore decided to try to find my own stuttering solution.

I am now thirty-five years of age and have been enjoying life as a fluent person for the last thirteen years. I have recently been searching on the search engine Google to see what types of treatments are currently available to people who have a stutter. I have to say that I was some what surprised, pleasantly surprised. There are a heck of a lot more options available today in comparison to the time when I had this form of speech impediment, there are even ebooks that include full descriptions of stuttering therapy techniques.

I sure would have loved the internet to have been around at the time that I had a stutter.
