Tips On Preventing Scarring After Mole Removal
Posted by admin in Prescription Impotence Drugs on March 18th, 2011
If you have a mole on your body that you dislike then your dermatologist can remove it via laser treatment or incision. Depending upon the mole itself your dermatologist will choose the most suitable course of action and treatment. If the mole is suspect then a biopsy will be done in order to determine whether or not it is cancerous. When a mole is removed a scar is generally going to remain, but there are some things that you can do in order to prevent scarring after mole removal.
And after your dermatologist has completed the procedure they should provide you with all of the information that you are going to need in order to carefully take care of the area and keep the skin in good condition. You should make sure that you follow the instructions as closely as possible.
If any stitches have been required during the mole removal it will be important to make sure that the area is covered up until all of the stitches are removed. You will also need to make sure that the whole area is kept clean and that no bacteria gets in.
You have to moisturize your skin. Scars are much more likely to appear on dry skin and therefore you will need to moisturize daily in order to keep your skin moist.
You should also be provided with a scar treatment cream, and if not you should be able to find this in the local pharmacy as well. These treatment creams will use natural ingredients in order to prevent scarring. The cream will need to be applied to the affected area 2 or 3 times per day for between 10 weeks and 12 weeks.
Massaging the area can also prove to be helpful as well. The reason for this is because firm massaging in the affected area will it lead to an increase in blood circulation. Through this increase in circulation you will ensure that all of the blood and nutrients that you need will get to the area. These nutrients will help to fortify your skin. You should be aiming to massage the area for at least two minutes, possibly several times each day if possible.
Make sure that you wear sunscreen if you are out under the sun. The rays of the sun and are going to dry the skin out and cause damage to it. This, in turn, is likely to prevent quicker healing and will make scarring more of a possibility. Regardless of the weather, try to use a sunscreen that will protect against UVA as well as UVB rays.
Vitamins E capsules can also be used. If you puncture a capsule then you can spread the contents of the capsule on the area. If you apply vitamins E to a specific area of your body it will help to nourish the skin and thus prevent scarring.
Overall, these tips should certainly help. If they don’t, then you will need to get back in contact with your dermatologist. They can offer you further advice on how to deal with the problem. If a scar does appear then they can still offer you guidance on how to deal with it.
